Gotta Love Gove

Yesterday when Gove got home from school he asked if he could check the mail. I gave him the key and he ran off and got all of the mail. Then he locked the car and closed the garage. He came inside and said to me, "Mom, I want to do all of your work today." I said, "really, okay you can clear off and clean the table." His response, "No, I don't want to do that. What else do you have to do?" I told him, "I need to unload the dishwasher and then put the dirty dishes in it." He was thrilled to do that job! He enlisted the help of Max. They got the job done in no time and did it very well! They already have to load their own dishes into the dishwasher after they eat, but I think I have some new dish-doers. Yay for having a big boy leader!

Yesterday evening Gove came in to me very excited. He and Max were watching Qubo and every ten or fifteen minutes they were coming out to tell me a new thing they want for Christmas. Expecting to hear about a new and exciting toy, Gove surprised me by asking, "Mom, do you have Contact?" Me, "What?" Gove, "You know, Contact? Do you have Contact?" Me, "What is contact?" Gove," It's a hook you can hang your Christmas decorations on. You need to get contact mom." Me, "No, I think I'll be okay without it." Gove, "What are you going to hang your Christmas decorations with then?" Me, " Um... a nail." Gove, "You are going to damage you walls if you use a nail. You need to get contact." Then he turned and left. Nice try Contact brainwashers, but I'm not buying it!

YES, you do have to love Gove - there is no way around it. It just happens !

What funny boys you have. We need to do more family things together so that all these Cousins can stay close to one another.

I wish Douglas would do as well with chores as your boys do ! He has moments when he really wants to help sweep, mop or dust. But heaven forbid you should ask him to clean his room !
