This past Tuesday Gove and Nolan were in a little car accident. They were rear-ended and pushed into another car in the rain. Not to worry, they are both absolutely fine, no injuries whatsoever. The car has seen better days, but who really cares it wasn't pretty to begin with. Anyway, Gove was a little traumatized by the whole thing and has been talking about it a lot. He was already neurotic about wearing his seatbelt, but now he is even more. After the accident, Max and I drove down and picked Gove up. Our conversation on our way home went something like this:
Me: Gove did you get in a scary crash?
Gove: Yeah, I was scared. That lady wasn't being safe, but me and dad were being safe.
Me: Did you get hurt?
Gove: I bonked my head. (turning to Max) Do you see the red line, Max?
Max: Yeah. (standard for Max to say yeah, there was no mark)
Gove: You do! Is there a crack?
Max: Yeah.
Gove: There is! Are my brains coming out?
Max: Yeah.
Gove: No they're not! If my brains were coming out I wouldn't be able to talk!
I was just siting in the front seat listening to him trying not to laugh. When we got home, he got a toy car and played "crash" with it for a little while. He also loves to hear the story of his crash. He's a funny little obsessive guy.
Gove has been sick with the stomach flu since yesterday morning and has been feeling miserable. I set up a little bed for him at the foot of my bed and he has been laying in there watching TV and being doted over. Last night I went in and was talking to him and generally checking on him. During the course of the conversation he said to me, "Mom I am going to be sick and sick every day until I get blessed." It was sweet that he remembered the healing that has come to him through blessings when he is sick. Nolan was at work and he was disappointed that I couldn't bless him. I think that sometimes a mother's prayers work as well as a blessing and I grateful for his faith in riminding me of the power of blessings.
