Locked Out!

We finally had to bite the bullet and put a lock on our refridgerator due to this little tyrant...

Oh sure, he looks so cute and innocent, but he is currently in the middle of that "terrible two" stage. Boy is he terrible. He climbs on counters to get into cabinets that hold his precious candy, batteries, scissors and all types of other things that have been kept out of his reach - until now. He thinks he is the boss and blatantly disobeys, thinking he is funny and/or cute. He actually will get into something he knows he should not have and will come and flaunt his naughtiness to Nolan or me with his little, "I got this, boop, boop, boop!" He just laughs and smiles until he gets it taken away and then comes the monster tantrum. We got so sick of apples with one bite taken out of them found in rooms, failed attempts at getting his own milk, and of course those tantrums when things were taken away, that we finally just locked up the fridge. It is very inconvenient for Nolan and me, but we'll deal with it. I always thought that the terrible twos thing was a myth, Gove was so good at that age, but Max has definately proved me wrong. It's real! Last night I was complaining to Nolan about how aweful Max had been that day and he commented that he was worried about him being so defiant. I really am not worried about this defiance continuing forever, I know he is just testing boundaries and seeing what exactly he can get away with. I don't know why, but it seems that those stubborn little second children tend to really try their parents. (I know because I am one and I have heard about it enough to know I do not want a toddler who was as bad as I was!) Two year-olds grow up and I am sure Max will be an amazingly great person. I am... hehehe. I am sure his stubborn streak will serve him well in life and that his curiousity will propel him forward. He is a competitive little guy who decided at two that he was using the potty like his brother and cousin - even if that meant wetting his pants every day for months because he was too busy to go use the toilet. If Gove knows his abc's, Max must know them too! If Gove can count to 13, Max can count to 14. These boys came in the right order, because Gove is just happy to help Max learn and is very patient while Max must keep up and has no time to wait. They make a good team! I know time will pass and that my crazy little tyrant will grow to be someone great. On to Gove...

Gove makes all things into swords, including linclon logs. He also loves all things Batman, like the broken goggles he has been sporting lately. He came out of his room looking like this the other day and we could not resist taking a picture. Lately, he has been using the word "cool" a lot. Nolan and I laughed when we saw him, something he took as approval, then we asked, "Gove, do you look cool?" He responded by running to the mirror, looking himself over, and responding, "Oh yeah, I look really cool." I guess this look is four year-old cool!

Hmm, it sounds like Max has been drinking the same water Douglas is drinking ! Although Douglas is starting to come out of that terrible stage. But I do remember it well and he is still a VERY curious little Boy ( but I don't have to tell you that ! ) I am hoping that Ellie will straighten some of these Boys out : ) It is going to be pretty funny to see her bossing them all around someday !

I love the lock on the door! I could have really used one of those for Emma when she was little. And I completely understand the fascination with swords, Colin's got a collection of sticks in his room just for that purpose.
I love seeing your kids in primary. They are so adorable, and Max will even sing with me when I do singing time in nursery. You have got good kids!
