A New Word

Look how cute Gove and Max are when their dad takes them hiking, lets them dress themselves and poses them for goofy pictures! ADORABLE... I mean really adorable! Well, these two little boys have learned a new word. A few weeks ago they played with some other children (all good little children, but some were older than them). After we got home from the party, they asked Nolan and I what the word "gay" means. We thought we surey had heard them wrong and asked them to repeat themselves at least three times. We heard right. We asked what they thought it meant. Gove piped up, "A kids at the party said it is when a man marries a man or a woman marries a woman." Nolan and I looked at eachother and looked at them and said, "Well, yeah that's about right." Gove then turned to me and asked, "Are you going to do a gay?" Me:"No, Gove I am married to dad." Then Nolan told him that being gay was not what Heavenly Father asked us to do. I also added that a man and a man or a woman and a woman can't have a baby, and explained our feelings about the subject. The boys seemed to understand completely. I guess we got that out of the way early! Well, a couple of days later we were watching our favorite show, "America's Funniest Home Videos," and they had a video of a wedding with a bride and groom in the center with a lot of bridesmaids and groomsmen. Gove turned to me and rolled his eyes and said, "Mom that is so gay!" I explained to him that all of those people were not getting married, just the man and woman in the middle. His tone was so hilarious! Well, Nolan just came out and recounted a conversation he just had with the boys where Gove was marrying off member of the family. Here's how it went: Mom will marry grandpa Doug (No, mom is married to me and grandpa Doug is her dad) Dad will marry grandma (no, etc.) he then married siblings to eachother in-law siblings to siblings and on and on. Nolan started to correct him and explain why those people would not get married when Max interrupted and said, "Gove, that's doing a gay!" Help me now! What am I going to do when these two good looking boys start learning more new words?!?

Amazing how early we have to explain things to our kids. Your boys sound like they have quite the personalities!
