This is how Max rang in the New Year:

Not pretty. On New Year's Eve he and Gove were playing tag in the house and Max fell face-first into an ottoman while running very fast. The ottoman is fully padded and upholstered, but somehow Max hit it just right. He had a nice, deep gash that required four stitches. I had to take him to urgent care all bloody because he would not let me get within two feet of him to clean him up. He was a model patient, though. Nolan met us there (he was working) and I think that made Max happy. The doctor who stitched him up said he was the best patient she had seen all night - and they had been very busy. Max cried and cried when they gave him the shots to numb his face, but he stayed still like a statue. The next day his face was swollen and he had a pretty nice black eye. On Sunday, he looked even worse. This picture was taken Monday when things started looking better. After he was all stitched and cleaned, Max carried on like nothing had ever happened to him. Something tells me this won't be his last set of stitches :( That boy is a little too daring for my blood pressure.
