A Day Late, A Dollar Short

Yes, I know Mother's Day was yesterday, but I still wanted to post a shout-out to my mom. I have the greatest mom ever and I am so thankful for her. I am thankful for all she taught me and still teaches me. I know when I have a need or even just a kid question, I can go to my mom. So much of who I am is a direct result of her mothering. I remember as a little girl thinking that I had the prettiest, coolest, most fun and talented mom in the whole world. I really remember sitting in my room as a little girl and thinking about all of the moms I knew and realizing I couldn't think of a mom I would rather have. That's saying a lot because I knew a lot of pretty great moms. My mom has always been my friend. She achieved that delicate balance of being a friend and a parent. I knew I could go to her with my problems, that she would correct me when I was in the wrong and that she would love me anyway. She taught me to get an education, to enjoy what I was doing in the moment instead of wishing my life away, that I got to choose the family I would create and to always make good choices. Importantly, she taught me who I was and then told me everyday to remember who I am. She taught me that I am a daughter of God and that I am valuable. She shows me that she loves me through both her words and her actions. After the births of each of my children, she has been there to help me. My children are blessed to have her in their lives as well. They have a loving grandma around the corner who will let them watch movies in the Super Boy's room decorated just for them, will let them play with her special toys, will feed them candy and chips, will paint with, play with and joke with them and who tries in every way to make their lives better. As a little girl I had a grandma like that who also lived just around the corner. I remember walking, riding my bike and roller skating to her house on many occasions. My boys are doubly blessed because they have both grandma and granny just around the corner. What lucky boys!

Thanks for being you...I love you mom!
